The leather expert provides leather cleaning services to extend the life of your leather
Leather furniture can last for many years with proper leather cleaning, care and maintenance. However, over time leather can become worn, cracked, faded, or stained. The Leather Expert’s leather cleaning, repair and restoration services can help to bring your furniture back to its former glory.
The restoration process typically involves leather cleaning, repairing any damage, and recolouring the leather to restore its original look or to give it a new finish. Age-matching repairs can be done to retain the patina and character of the original piece, which can be a more cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing option than restoring the entire item.
It’s important to note that not all leather cleaning, repair and restoration services are equal. It’s essential to find a reputable and experienced service provider like The Leather Expert, who can properly assess your furniture’s condition and recommend the appropriate restoration method. They will also be able to explain the restoration process and pricing to you.
Our Leather Cleaning & Care Plan Process
- Preparation: We start by removing any surface dirt or dust from the leather using a soft-bristled brush.
- Cleaning Product Selection: A leather cleaning product that is specifically formulated for your type of leather is selected. Our leather cleaners are specially formulated and extremely effective. They also contain softening agents.
- Leather Cleaning: The leather cleaner is applied with a soft cloth rubbing it gently onto the leather in a circular motion. Taking care not to apply too much pressure, as this can damage the leather (if we are finishing with RESIN protection coatings the surface is usually lightly keyed so a more vigorous technique is good).
- Colour Inspection: Once the leather has been cleaned and dried we inspect for any colour that may be unstable. If all is good we can proceed to the next stage (colouring can be attended to if need be).
- Leather Conditioning: We apply a leather conditioner to the leather to keep it soft and supple. A small amount of conditioner cream is rubbed onto the leather in a circular motion. This is the priming stage before the second application is carried out. We leave it on for a few minutes, then continue with the next stage after appropriate drying times are reached.
- Leather Protection: The next application to the leather is a protector to help prevent staining and damage. Using a clean cloth to gently spread it evenly across the surface of the leather furniture.
- Maintenance: This cleaning and conditioning process can be carried out every three to twelve months, or as needed depending on the usage of the leather item.
Leather repair, scratches, rips, leather colouring
While applying the coating can protect the leather against some wear and tear, it will not reverse any existing damage or scratches on the sofa.
Any damage to the Leather can be attended to with our restoration and repair services. Our services range from scratch repair and stain removal to the leather, to full colour restoration for leather chairs, sofas and leather car interiors.
If your leather furniture is maintained from new with a leather care plan. This can potentially save you a lot of expenses in the future.
